Governor’s Gold Seal Awarded to Village on the Green

Longwood senior living community receives top honor from state for high standards and care quality.

Village on the Green retirement community received the Gold Seal Award from the Governor’s Panel on Excellence in Long-Term Care, effective July 1. Only 3% of licensed skilled nursing providers in Florida are awarded the seal. Statewide, only 23 out of 683 providers have received the honor, and Village on the Green is one of only two in Seminole County.

The Gold Seal Program awards and recognizes long-term care providers that demonstrate excellence over a sustained period, promote the stability of the industry, and facilitate the physical, social and emotional well-being of skilled nursing residents.

“The Gold Seal is a tremendous honor, and we’re even happier about what it means for the people we serve,” says Ansley Holt, executive director of Village on the Green. “The award is a tribute to our team members at Village on the Green, their compassion and dedication to serving older adults.”

Village on the Green has held the Gold Seal six times and has now earned it for another two-year period. The award is part of a ranking system created by the state of Florida in 2000 as a way for consumers to rank care quality of skilled nursing providers.

“The Gold Seal sets us apart from the rest in the long-term care field,” says Gail Wattley, Health Center administrator at Village on the Green. “We are committed to a culture of excellence in serving seniors, and it’s rewarding to be recognized for that.”

The Health Center at Village on the Green is Medicare-certified and offers skilled nursing and rehabilitation services to residents at the retirement community; it’s also open to the public, accepting direct admissions. Village on the Green is a full-service continuing care retirement community that provides a variety of lifestyle options on its campus, including maintenance-free independent living apartment homes.

The Gold Seal Award is based on health care services criteria that includes excellent inspection reports, low employee turnover, high satisfaction ratings from residents and their families, and fiscal soundness.
